Purpose
Marketplace utility describes possible future uses of $Neurons in marketplace or service contexts.
Scope
The current Neurons Token System does not define active marketplace payments, marketplace discounts, seller settlement, royalties, locked reward spending, or token payment accounting.
Current Status
Marketplace utility is future or conditional. $Neurons is technically ERC-20 compatible and could be integrated into marketplace flows later, but payment and settlement rules are not defined in the current tokenomics model.
Possible Future Models
Future marketplace utility may include:
- payment for services or products;
- course purchases;
- discounts;
- access passes;
- campaign rewards;
- partner credits;
- multi-chain payment flows.
Each model requires product, contract, treasury, refund, fee, reporting, and compliance validation.
Settlement Questions
Before activation, Marketplace documentation must define accepted assets, seller settlement asset, fee model, refund behavior, treasury impact, tax/accounting assumptions, on-chain or off-chain settlement, and reporting fields.
Not Currently Defined
Locked reward spending, seller settlement using locked balances, marketplace credit conversion, and burn-on-spend are not defined in the current $Neurons model.
Risk Considerations
Marketplace utility risks include settlement confusion, refund abuse, fee mismatch, treasury leakage, user misunderstanding, and contract-policy mismatch.
